There is an urgent need for countries across the globe, particularly the
nations who matter, to come together to shut down the terror factories that are
operating in different parts of the world. They should push their differences
to the backseat and launch a concentrated and determined joint effort to
completely destroy the monster called terrorism which has already become a
threat to the world peace and obstacle for the development of the people. It
should be a start to finish job and not a temporary exercise. Unfortunately,
that seems to be a distant dream at the moment as nations are not only throwing
their support behind the terror groups but are also helping them in more than
one ways to trigger mindless violence and kill innocent people.
A
case in point is the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel which began after the
former launched a massive military offensive against the latter. Hamas was
known as a gang of stone pelters who were famous for throwing stones at Israeli
forces in Gaza and other areas in the vicinity. But the manner in which they
invaded Israel in microlight small aircrafts fitted with machineguns killing
scores of innocent people clearly indicated that their strength had gone up
many fold. This transformation can only be possible with the support and help
of a state and its armed forces. In this regard several names are doing the
rounds including that of Iran and Pakistan in media and other circles. But
there is no concrete evidence. Nevertheless, it is certain that this type of
daring military operation is impossible to execute without the assistance of
forces of a state. The Hamas militants are sure to have received vigorous
training for months before going for such a planned armed attack.
A number of Arab nations
extended their direct and indirect support to the Hamas in its battle with
Israel. They did not realize that the same Hamas one day will emerge as a
threat to their nation and people. History is witness to this bitter truth. The
countries who in the past had hobnobbed with militant groups to create trouble
for rival nations had themselves become the victim of the same militant groups’
terror activities.
Therefore, this is the right time for nations to stand in one platform
and declare an all out war against terrorists without taking into consideration
their nationality and religion.
