Ram temple cash loot incident sends
shockwaves among devotees

By S T Beuria

The alleged loot of huge amount of cash, in crores to be precise, from the donation boxes kept inside the Ram temple in Ayodhya, one of the topmost shrines for Hindus across the globe, has sent shockwaves among the devotees. The people came to know about the sensational incident after a national TV news channel recently ran a programme on the issue in one of its primetime bulletins.

The matter should be investigated properly and the criminals involved should be punished adequately as it has hurt the sentiment of millions of Hindu devotees across the world. ’’It is unbelievable that cash will be stolen from Ayodhya Ram temple. It is definitely a shocking development’’, said an ardent Ram devotee.

The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has already formed a special investigation team(SIT) to probe the matter. Ayodhya is located in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, country’s biggest state. A few persons associated with the important shrine are now reportedly under the SIT scanner. All these people were involved in the counting of currency notes donated by devotees through donation boxes, a daily exercise. Everyday lakhs of devotees from different parts of India and abroad visit the famous shrine which is considered as the birth place of Ram, the Hindu God widely respected, adored, loved and worshiped by Hindus in all parts of the globe.

It is hoped that the SIT would thoroughly probe the case and nab the culprits involved in the alleged crime.

As expected, the incident has already been given a political colour with Samajwadi Party(SP), the Uttar Pradesh based regional outfit, lambasting BJP over the incident. Nevertheless, devotees firmly believe that such an issue should not be politicised. ’’This is certainly very sensitive issue. Therefore, instead of doing politics over it, all political parties should come together to ensure such an incident never occurs not only in Ayodhya Ram temple, but also in all the major Hindu shrines across India in future’’, said an elderly devotee.
